9/5/2010 ... I am quite happy with my present normal time below 27 minutes on 5 km training distance. It is  10% better than last Autumn. I started thinking about this year's edition of  the 10 km Polish Independence Day Run on the 11th of NOV and I plan to run below 56 minutes. And one important change - this Summer I bought New Balance MT100

8/29/2010 Hi. I'm from Spain (Europe).

I knew about Chi Running from the Total Immersion Book. Since that book has made me enjoy my swimming a lot more than I did before, and I stopped running two years ago for chronic tendinitis in my knee, I got interested in Chi Running and.... Incredible!!! I´m running again!!!

Maybe my Chi Running technique

8/28/2010 A few years ago when I started running again after a 20 year hiatus, the shin splints that plagued me in high school returned.  I spoke with a cousin of mine from San Francisco who recommended Chi Running.  She talked about Danny’s mindful and scientific approach to low impact and efficient running.  After reading the Chi  Running book and practicing Chi Running, I was delighted with extraordinary results.  After two months

8/25/2010 I feel that the timing in taking the course was absolutely perfect for me. It seems that this practice, combined with Feldenkrais, has been my missing link in terms of what I have needed for years!

I have come off of years of crisis. I am glad to say that I am on the other side of things now. But what I have found in retrospect was that my strategy in getting through the

8/21/2010 I am a 48 year old woman and I walk 3.5 miles a day. Just found out about the Chi Walking technique and tried it this morning, Aug. 17, 2010, for the first time. Wow! I'm amazed at the difference. My walking pace was faster and I felt as if I were gliding across the pavement rather than a heavy hard step each time. I could also feel my hips rotating

My story - 60 year old male; occasional exercise runner for 5 years, and a more dedicated exercise runner for the past 18 months. My constant lower back and lower leg pains limited my workouts (street running) and I had a truly difficult time running beyond 30 minutes, even though I am in good shape (5' 9", 146 lbs.).  I have been a Tai Chi

8/11/2010 Hi Katherine,

Your recent article on per-form-ance is very important to me.  Your last paragraph suggests the greatest truth: Running is not about competition with others or yourself, rather running is to serve the purpose of helping us each to fulfill our calling in life.

Years ago my wife, Dana, gave me your book, and over that time I have slowly

I just completed my first half ironman.  I am 54 and obese and it took me a bit over 12 hours to finish. However, I completed the half marathon part in slightly under 5 hours completely relaxed. People were teasing me because I didn't look tired.  I had the best race. It was like a dream because I didn't hurt at all in my legs, just a bit sore in

8/3/2010 I just wanted to let you know what a difference your Chi Running book has made in my running. I'm 47, and it has been a goal of mine to break the 3 hour marathon barrier for a number of years. Up to this point, my best marathon time was a 3:01:50 in Big Sur 2002 (yes, please tell Danny I must have been near him most of that race...in fact

7/25/2010 In 2008, I tore my right miniscus, a small ligament on the left side of the knee. I was 56 at the time. I simply over-trained one day and ran too far for the condition I was in and tore it, that injury shut down my running almost completely. I could still manage a half mile now and then but basically my running days were done.

7/24/2010 Thanks to Chi Running, I just completed a gnarly, hot (90’s) hilly (2,500ft of climb) Ohio single track 50k. I was practically the oldest @ 62  and won my AG and finished within the top 2/3irds of all AG’s. I’m happy  just to be able to move and get through it pain free!

7/23/2010 We thoroughly enjoyed the Level 2 ChiRunning workshop in Seattle with Danny! We have written a posting and included an image on our blog, "OCEANPAX paddle / run"  www.oceanpeace.ca. We thought Danny might be interested in our story - a most happy ending, as with so many others!

7/19/2010 It was great to see your latest newsletter mention the 5k and 10k training programs. It reminded me that I wanted to share a recent Chi Running success story with you.

I'll start by saying it's a bit strange to realize I was turning 50 this year. However, that opened a whole new running "door" that I wasn't aware of.

There is something called the "State Senior Games" that is held each year in

7/12/2010 Yesterday I finished my first marathon! I accomplished this using the Chi Walking technique, with a few Chi Running moments thrown in for good measure. The focuses helped me get through the tough parts, and  when I got to the last few miles and I was exhausted, each step was a reminder to perfect my form, breathe completely, and gather my energy from the earth.

Six months ago I was an overweight 54 year

7/12/2010 This is the first of what I believe will be multiple emails. I'm not even through chapter 4 of Chi Running yet but the concepts are making sense to me. I am a large 39 year old man, 6'3" and 223 lbs. Last season I recorded a sub 22 minute 5K and this year my goal is a sub 20 minute 5K. I did my 5K run this morning and really tried to focus on

7/9/2010 Well, I'm almost 54. Although I ran some during my 20s and partially my 30s I can not say that my late years have been healthy at all. But this year (2010) since Jan 1st, I started running. I thought it was going to be easier. It wasn't at all. I ran from one injury into another. I had to go to physical rehabilitation and to the hospital.

7/4/2010 Thanks. I've had phenomenal results so far with using ideas from Born To Run...and then from Chi Running. I should have read Chi Running first.

6/17/2010 I just ran the same trail 15% (7 minutes) faster than I ran it 3 days ago. This is just after spending 3 evenings with the Chi Running book. Not only that, I'm not sore at all. I always ice my knees after running.  Wow.  Cool.  Thanks!

6/13/2010 I’ve been running for almost twenty years and I picked up the Chi Running book after spending about a year toying with “pose technique”. Pose helped me to a more fluid running technique, but I just wasn’t getting it. Since incorporating the Chi Running exercises my training hasn’t been the same. My joints are never sore and my core muscles have never been stronger. I’m only a month into it but I’m converted. I’ve been

Chi Running has changed my life! I was dealing with an injury for a couple of years and finally got it under control, and then I discovered the Chi Running book at a local supermarket. 6/7/2010 Hello,
I am a 72 year old male and have been running since early 2001 when I started training with the Team In Training Group for the Marine Corps Marathon.  My wife and daughter talked me into it and I've never stopped running.

We just finished our 4th annual ultra on June 3.  It is called Tom's Run Relay and is run on the C&O Canal Trail from Cumberland, MD to the Bethesda Naval

6/4/2010 Chi Running is an awesome way to get back to fitness.

After having surgery that left me with lack of energy, my husband suggested that I try a Chi Running session with him about 2 years ago.  I had been a runner for about 5 years and had no energy after my surgery.

Danny and his team at the workshop were great.  They showed me how to augment energy by simply doing a

6/3/2010 Hello! Just wanted to tell you that this weekend I used my new Chi skills to go kayaking! WOW, what a difference! So much more effective and great for paddling. When you paddle, you are supposed to twist your upper body at the same spot you twist for Chi Running ...and it makes for a great efficient, comfortable stroke. Plus, your legs and core are working with your arms too! I was not even sore

6/2/2010 Just wanted to say that after reading Chi Running and trying it for a week, I felt like it finally "clicked", and I cannot even remember how to run the old way (which I did faithfully for over 20 years). The only caution I have is for Southwest trail runners: when you come around the corner and are surprised by a rattlesnake on the trail, you won't be ready

10/4/2009 I haven't been running for very long - I only started jogging on a treadmill in February 2009 and only at 9 kph for short intervals.  I covered my first 5 km course in March and I've been steadily enjoying running further and faster since then.

8/31/2009 I want to thank you for your book "ChiWalking"  !!!!!

A stroke left me with limited balance and some weakness in my right side.  I spent about three years depending on a cane and walker.

8/21/2009 I just want to thank you Katherine for the life-changing course you taught at Kripalu in May. Both you and Ryan (Miller) gave me the motivation to start a walking program. I have never stayed with an exercise program

5/9/2008 Dear Katherine and Danny,

I am 59 years old and 230#, and I have spent the last 30 years trying to run--even small amounts. But I inevitably (usually quickly) re-injured my calf muscles (you probably already know what's coming). Then I would have to lay off for quite awhile. Then I'd go back and do the same thing. I tried M.D.s, D.C.s, exercises, stretching, everything I could think of. I gave up and

Wow, what a weekend! Cindy and I went to San Antonio for a ChiWalking Workshop with Ken Runner, a ChiWalking/Running coach. We learned so much and he helped us to figure out what we needed to work on. 9/22/2007 ChiWalking is a walking technique that places much less stress than
conventional walking on the joints and supporting structures in the
legs and back. I have recommended the technique to many patients who
suffer from arthritis in the legs and/or back, but would like to
continue to walk regularly for exercise. Using ChiWalking, my
arthritis patients are able to walk farther, more frequently, and

8/9/2007 I saw a patient last week whom I have followed for many years, with, among other problems, severe knee arthritis that limited his walking. I put him onto Chi Walking 3 months ago. I just thought I would touch base while I had a chance while I am recuperating a bit in Kathmandu. Wow. Talk about an opportunity to put ChiWalking to work in a very real way. After walking about 150 miles or so (as best we can guess) up and down mountain trails in the Himalayas up to Everest Base Camp (at over 5300 meters/around 17,500 feet in altitude) and back, I can honestly tell you

4/23/2007 I gave birth to our first child, Mae Louise, two weeks ago. I was able to do ChiWalking the last two trimesters of my pregnancy. I had to make a few small changes in stride length and postural alignment, but still felt the generation of well-being energy and avoided back/pelvic pain!
12/8/2006 Hi Danny,
